Don’t know how to print out your digital images from the PC? Don’t worry. Canon knows that many consumers are PC-phobic and has therefore eliminated PC from the digital imaging equation with its unique "Camera Direct" printing concept. You only need to shoot, connect the camera to the printer directly with a USB cable and print! No PCs needed. Many Canon consumers love the convenience that "Camera Direct" concept brings. In early 2001, Canon’s first direct photo printer, CP-10, became an instant hit when it was launched. Soon the direct photo-printing concept was incorporated into the renowned Bubble Jet printers. However, this “Camera Direct” printing was only possible between Canon digital cameras/ camcorders and Canon printers. In December 2002, having seen the success of Canon in the direct shoot and print arena, five other digital imaging manufacturers including Fujifilm, Hewlett Packard, Olympus, Seiko Epson and Sony came together to propose an open industry standard that would open up the direct print concept to more players in the industry.

With this open standard, consumers have the freedom to choose their favourite brand of digital camera and printer and yet enjoy the convenience of “Camera Direct” printing. Without using PCs. Without removing memory cards from digital cameras.

In February 2003, the 6 digital imaging giants termed the open standard 'PictBridge' and 6 months later, Canon released the world's first PictBridge products - CP-200 and CP-300 dye-sublimation printers. In September 2003, Canon was the first to roll out 11 PictBridge products in Singapore. And today, Canon still has the widest range of PictBridge products to cater to every user's needs.
