Recycling - Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The UK's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations aim to reduce the environmental impact from electrical waste by reducing the amount of unsorted waste that goes to landfill sites and incinerators. The regulations have been put in place to ensure that electrical products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and maximum environmental protection. UK Camera Store Ltd is fully committed to the regulations and under its obligations as a Distributor undertakes to dispose of such goods in accordance with UK and EU legislation.

However, we cannot recycle the goods unless they are returned to us and therefore our customers have an important role to play in helping us to recycle. Please help us to minimise the effect we have on the environment by recycling your waste electrical goods.
How do you know if a product is covered by the new regulations?
Look out for the "crossed wheelie bin symbol"

If the symbol shown above is found on any of your goods it means that the product is covered by the WEEE Regulations.

How to Recycle Old Products.

When you have finished with a WEEE product, please do not put it in your domestic waste bin as it will not be recycled.

You can return waste electrical equipment to UK Camera Store Ltd when purchasing a new product from us on a like for like basis (eg a digital camera for a digital camera, not a TV for a camera) under our Distributor obligations. Please contact us at www.ukcamerastore.co.uk to arrange a convenient way to return the old item back to us (at no cost to the customer). Please quote your order number, details of the item to be recycled, pick-up address and convenient times for collection. Also, please package carefully any item for collection to avoid damage in transit. UK Camera Store Ltd will then deal with the WEEE waste product in an environmentally responsible manner, at no cost to the customer.

Alternatively, customers can choose to recycle electrical waste locally at Licensed Recycling Facilities, where WEEE designated products are accepted for recycling in accordance with UK and EU legislation.
