Get ready for one of the most spectacular astronomical events of 2026! ??
On Wednesday 12th August, the Moon will pass directly in front of the Sun, creating a major partial solar eclipse visible across the UK.
What can we see in the UK?
The UK will not experience totality, but we'll see an impressive 90–96% of the Sun covered, with the best views generally in the south-west of the UK. Cornwall could see around 95% coverage, while London will see around 90%.
WHEN TO WATCH
The eclipse will take place in the evening, with timings varying slightly depending on where you are:
London:?• Starts: 6:17pm?• Maximum: 7:13pm?• Ends: 8:06pm
Bristol/Cardiff:?• Maximum: around 7:13pm
Cornwall:?• Maximum: around 7:16pm?• Up to approximately 95% coverage
The Sun will be low in the western sky, so finding a location with a clear, unobstructed view towards the west will give you the best chance of seeing it.
HOW TO WATCH SAFELY
We will be selling solar eclipse glasses however becuase of supply issues these will be on a first come first served basis. All Glasses Purchased for the the Solar Eclipse Event Occuring on the 12th August 2026 will be non returnable Items. All Solar Eclipse Glasses will be Classified as Personal Protective Equipment or PPE. This means that we do not accept returns unless the items arrive faulty or damaged.

A telescope or camera equipped with the correct certified solar filter can give you an incredible view of the Moon passing across the Sun.
And remember — the weather could be the deciding factor! Keep an eye on the forecast as 12th August approaches.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich will also be providing a free live stream of the eclipse from around 6:10pm, giving everyone a way to watch even if clouds get in the way.
